What is Dermaplanning?
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive but effective exfoliating facial treatment, which give immediate results.
Although Dermaplaning is thought of as a relatively new treatment, it has been practiced by dermatologists for decades to prepare the skin for further treatments. Its effectiveness at delivering a powerful radiance-boost for young and mature skins, mean that Dermaplaning has become a sought-after treatment.
Dermaplaning is a safe, high-impact skin exfoliation process that works in a similar way to microdermabrasion. For this treatment, a surgical scalpel gently shaves away the dead surface skin. As well as removing layers of old skin cells, it removes the fine 'peach fuzz' (vellus) hairs on the face, which harbor grime and oils, contributing to the skin's dull appearance.
The combination of deep manual exfoliation and hair removal leaves skin silky smooth and brighter, plus make-up glides on easily, making it the perfect facial treatment before a big night out. The exfoliating action also stimulates fresh collagen and elastin production, helping reduce signs of aging, as cells regenerate after the treatment. It also helps reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Dermaplaning is also effective if you have dry or rough skin, scarring or uneven pigmentation, as it polishes away the build-up of dead and damaged skin cells, revealing fresh, radiant skin underneath.
Dermaplaning is extremely safe and suitable for most people, from teenagers upwards. The minimum age for treatment is 16 (with parental consent & presence). It is especially recommended if you have dry skin, rough skin, mature skin or uneven pigmentation and sun damage. If you have any of these skin concerns, Dermaplaning with a Microneedling treatment is a more effective.
Dermaplaning is a superficial treatment requiring little or no downtime. Your skin may appear rosier than usual, but this should quickly fade. Full home care advice will be given at the time of your appointment.
Dermaplaning alone is fine for those clients who are pregnant and breast-feeding, but this treatment cannot be carried out with any needling treatments.
